Frequently Asked Questions

What level of grants will be available?

Frequently Asked Questions Government grants are often available but do change from time to time and do vary per technology. Also, domestic grants are different to commercial funding. For domestic and commercial funding we keep in touch with regional funding advisors to make sure that our customers receive the maximum investment benefit.

Our pricing structure and special offers are a bonus not to be missed! When you take advantage of our FREE consultation offer we will be best informed of your renewable energy requirements and we can be more specific to which grant you may be eligible to apply for and benefit from.

Do I need planning permission?

In England, changes to permitted development rights for domestic micro generation technologies introduced on 6th April 2008 have lifted the requirements for planning permission for most renewable energy systems. Roof mounted and stand-alone installations can now be installed in most dwellings, as long as they respect certain size criteria.

How much money can I save?

The money and CO2 saved per year vary per technology, type of building and usage. Also, commercial savings vary from domestic savings, however, here are some indications of how much money could be saved:

I live in a three bed detached home with oil heating - what is the best option for me?

The best start to making a home more energy efficient is by looking at its insulation situation. Loft and wall insulation together with double glazing are very important items to look at first. However, if your oil boiler is broke or perhaps your tank needs replacing, you might well want to invest in a heat pump system now.

If you have a big garden, a ground source heat pump may well be an option. If you do not have a big garden then an air source heat pump, perhaps combined with a solar hot water system, would be another option. If you would like to save space in the home, an external air-source heat pump may be your choice. Your space heating demands, hot water needs and budget are all to be taken in consideration.

Are heat pumps noisy?

The high quality heat pumps we supply are very silent, both the inside and the outside installations. Modern, high quality heat pumps are well-insulated and thus produce less noise than a typical refrigerator.

Is my house suitable?

Virtually every house is suitable for heat pumps or solar systems. Luckily, we can offer a solution for nearly all situations. Why not ring us for a FREE consultation on 01302 788261 to find out more?

Do solar panels work in the UK?

Yes, solar panels work very well in the UK! Just like a pocket calculator that may be powered by solar, these also work in winter and inside the house. Solar installations do work on a cloudy day too, with what we call "diffused" sunlight. The sun radiates its sun rays to earth and often, here above the UK, these rays will scatter on the clouds like a glass vase on a tile floor. Without this "diffused" sunlight it would be dark altogether. Yes, it is true that nearer to the equator, solar systems can produce more hot water or electricity however, with today's technology and solar panels being more than 80% efficient, a solar hot water system can provide you with up to 70% of your annual domestic hot water needs.

Why is gas a thing of the past?

Gas is a product Britain is rapidly running out off. The North Sea has been emptied of its gas by Scandinavian countries, The Netherlands and Britain. The gas bubbles found in yesteryear are to be running dry and there is not enough storage for gas in the summer. Therefore it has to be exported in the summer and bought back in the winter- As the population grows we need more fuel for space and hot water heating. And the power plants require more gas to generate electricity. These are the reasons Britain is becoming dependent on other countries like Norway and Russia. And we know that Russia simply closed the taps to its neighbours in the middle of winter - not a situation Britain wants to experience.

Although gas is not dirty as oil it does create a co2 situation. Nearly all of the world's scientists agree that co2 contributes very heavily on climate change. Governments all over the western world are giving initiatives and reasons for us to start behaving in a more environmentally friendly manner. If we don't pay the price now we will pass the bill to our children.

Are discounts available?

AngloDutch services work with a very competitive pricing structure. Our determination to quality workmanship is second to none, as are the products we supply. This does not make us cheap, but cheap is not what we are about. Value for money and a happy customer are! But yes, take us up on the Free consultation offer and we will give you a competitive quote.

How long does it take to install?

The time it takes to install could be two days for a solar installation and for an oil boiler/heat pump exchange could it be three to four days. This all depends on the structure and size of your building and accessibility to area's we will need to be working in. The screed for under floor heating might take 28 days to cure, but there are new screeds and "Ditra" available that allow the screed to be walked upon within 4 days. Every installation is bespoke, unless we are working for a housing association fitting house after house. A good indication of time can be given when we have looked at your premises and when we know what we are installing.
